The kitchen - removal of soffits and Italian tile.

Thanks for coming to visit The Wolffpit.

Our fine old 1909 house got a bit of 'updating' by some previous crew (ahem). They modernized a number of things including the addition of soffits in the kitchen, living room, and master bedroom. In order to be more 'true' to the house, we decided we wanted to remove them. Since our goal this Christmas break was to remove the tile, we decided to do the soffits at the same time. The tile job was going to create such a monster dust cloud, ya may as well do construction at the same time and work your way from top to bottom. So there ya have it...our logical progression into demolition.

By the way, Lori is loving doing demolition. She rarely gets to destroy anything. She is a creator of fine things and detail. The chance to wield a sledge hammer and a crowbar was quite a positive experience for her. She says she's just loving it - sore arms and all. :-)

Chcck out the pictures of our demolition of the new-style soffits in the kitchen.

The tile destruction is in-process. Here are a few shots of that portion.
